Our catalepsy software accurately measures the time, in seconds, that a test subject maintains contact between the bar and
the floor of our catalepsy box. A timer starts automatically when the animal grasps the bar to begin the trial. The timer stops
instantaneously when the animal breaks contact with the bar.
- No stopwatches
- No inaccuracy from having to guess exactly when the animal breaks
contact with the handle bar
Before you begin your experiment, simply tell the software how many subjects you
will be testing, how many trials there will be per subject and the time limit per trial.
The software conveniently stores all of your experimental data in a file for statistical
analysis. Crunch the numbers by hand according to your own preference or use
MPC2XL (SOF-731) to transform your data into a format readable by Microsoft Excel.
For each subject, the time in contact with the handle bar is recorded for each trial.
In Excel, you could analyze the average time in contact with the bar per subject and
per experimental group, as well as the variability between trials. |
