Sound Attenuating Cubicle

This sound attenuating cubicle features a truly remarkable new material, which is rigid, lightweight board of moderately expanded closed cell PVC that is resistant to moisture and many chemicals. Chamber walls are 0.75" (1.9 cm) thick. The walls of these units are 100% PVC with a smooth white surface similar to rigid PVC cubicles, but much lighter in weight. The sound properties are consistent with other sound attenuating cubicles. At 2 KHz, measured 2.0" (5.1 cm) in front of a closed door, this cubicle is 34 db down compared with 25 db down for an equivalent MDF cubicle. At 10 KHZ, it is 54 db down, better then the 51 db attenuation of the MDF cubicle.

Standard MDF Sound Attenuating Cubicle

This sound attenuating cubicle is manufactured using MDF, a high density wood composite with thermally infused high pressure white colored laminate inside and out. Sound attenuation levels measured between two enclosures average 44.33 db from 100 Hz–10 KHz, increasing to 80 db above 10 KHz. The double door construction with self-closing hinges prevents door sag. This design also permits convenient animal loading where space is at a premium. This cubicle measures two inches deeper then the expanded PVC cubicle (ENV-018V), making it more flexible to add components to the modular test chambers and still allow the cubicle doors to close without interference.

ENV-600A
Large Primate Cubicle

This enclosure is constructed from almond colored MDF with 0.75" (1.9 cm) thick walls. Construction and sound attenuating properties are similar to other MDF enclosures. In addition to a 28 V DC powered fan standard with all enclosures, this unit includes two 28 V DC house lights mounted to the ceiling, and a viewing window with mirror tinting to prevent the animal from seeing out. This unit is also supplied with locking casters. An optional entry ramp (ENV-600R) to simplify animal loading is sold separately.

This ramp is provided to simplify animal loading in the large monkey cubicle (ENV-600A). A single ramp may be used with multiple cubicles.

Large Primate Intelligence Modular Cabinet

This product consists of a heavy-duty metal cabinet that can be secured to the wall with several bolts. The front of the cabinet features the same aluminum modular channels used on the rat operant chambers and the modular primate test chair (ENV-601A). The pellet dispenser in this setup is inside the cabinet however, it can also be placed outside of a cubicle for more convenient filling. The inside of the cabinet contains sufficient space for a SmartCtrl™ or passive connection panel for easy connection to a computer interface. Single MDF Door with Full Viewing Window

It is possible to place a single MDF door with a full size window on the MDF cubicles however, this will cause a slight decrease in sound attenuation. This
is suitable for group viewing or videotaping applications.

Not recommended for expanded PVC cubicles.

Expanded PVC and Melamine Viewing Window Option

This option adds a single pane 0.22" (6.4 cm) polycarb viewing window measuring 8.0" W x 7.0" H (20.3 cm x 17.8 cm) to any expanded PVC or melamine sound attenuating cubicle. Some sound attenuation may be lost in front of the cubicle but this generally has no effect on cubicles placed side by side. Pull-Out Drawer Options

These drawers have a 0.75" (1.9 cm) thick MDF shelf mounted in the cubicle on drawer slides. It is recommended that the back of the cubicle be anchored down with the use of this option.

28 V DC Fan Option

The 28 V DC fan, supplied standard with all sound attenuating cubicles, requires very little current from the control power supply (140 mA) and moves up to 46 cfm
of air. The AC fan moves slightly less air. If an AC fan is preferred, however, it can be substituted at a slight additional cost.

These lights are used in cubicles for general illumination. More than one may be necessary to fully illuminate larger cubicles. These may be wired to the fan circuit to be on all the time or connected to a 28 V DC output for computer programmed control. Order standard 100 mA replacement lamps (SG-700A) or 170 mA high intensity replacement lamps (SG-702A). Both sold in packages of ten lamps.

House/Stimulus Light with Diffuser

This unit makes an excellent house light or stimulus light for rat chambers and mazes. It is mounted on a 1/8 size rat modular panel; it is brighter than either the house light (ENV-215M) or stimulus light (ENV-221M), measuring 780 Lux at a distance of 1.0" (2.5 cm). The light is diffused to illuminate the entire chamber measuring over 200 Lux at a distance of 3.0" (7.6 cm). It consists of a 0.31" (0.79 cm) diameter stimulus light inserted in a 0.375" (0.95 cm) clear acrylic beveled diffuser block with outside dimensions of 1.5" (3.8 cm) square and a top surface which is 1.0" (2.5 cm) square.
