Modular Test Mazes for Rat

Med Associates manufactures complete modular test systems for both rat and mouse for simplified and economical maze construction. The modular hub walls and run way ends support all ENV-307/ENV-007/ ENV-008 Series Operant Test Chamber Accessories. The system can be easily automated with I/R Photobeam Systems, Auto Guillotine Doors and MED-PC® Interface Packages.

T-Maze

MED-TMAZ-1R
T-Maze Test Package for Rat

This complete T-maze package include test environment specifically designed for the rat. The maze features three automatic guillotine doors, dual sensors at the entrance to the start runway, a single sensor at the entrance to each goal runway, and a pellet dispenser with head entry detector at the end of each goal runway. The 14 mg pellet dispenser (ENV-203-14) is available by request in place of the 20 mg pellet dispenser (ENV-203-20). These basic mazes can be enhanced to meet a wide variety of applications.

The standard T-maze software application (SOF-700RA-9) provides a left/right/alternate training procedure plus a forced/delay/choice task with applicable user defined variables. Each task requires operator intervention to return the animal to the start box; however, all timing and performance data is recorded automatically. These MedState Notation™ procedures may be edited by the user or used as a model to create unique applications. Custom code is also available (sold separately). Order a MED-SYST-8 or MED-SYST-16 interface and software package separately to run up to eight or sixteen test stations respectively.

Radial Arm Maze

Radial Arm Maze

MED-RAM-1R
Radial Arm Maze Test Package for Rat

These complete radial arm maze packages feature modular test environments specifically designed for the rat. Each maze features eight automatic guillotine doors, dual sensors at the entrance to each runway, and a pellet receptacle and head entry detector at the end of each runway with a 45 mg (rat) or 20 mg (mouse) pellet dispenser. The 14 mg pellet dispenser (ENV-203-14) is available by request in place of the 20 mg pellet dispenser (ENV-203-20). The standard maze software application (SOF-700RA-6) provides for a user defined adaptation time and session test time. The test session is also ended when the animal has fully explored all eight runways. The standard data collected includes the number of entries and time in zone for the hub and all eight runways as well as “end counts” in each runway. Additional data includes total runways correct, total runway errors, the sequence of runways entered, and the elapsed time in seconds to runway completion. This MedState Notation™ procedure (SOF-700RA-6) may be edited by the user or used as a model to create unique applications. Custom code is also available (sold separately). Since two interface modules are needed for each radial eight arm maze, the MED-SYST-8 interface and software package will run up to four mazes and MED-SYST-16 will run up to eight mazes.
