Modular Test Mazes

Modular Test Mazes - Mouse

Elevated Plus Maze

Modular Test Mazes

MED Associates manufactures a complete modular test system for simplified and economical maze construction. The modular hub walls and run way ends support all ENV-307/ENV-007/ ENV-008 Series Operant Test Chamber Accessories. The system can be easily automated with I/R Photobeam Systems, Auto Guillotine Doors and MED-PC® Interface Packages.

Modular Maze Hubs

ENV-534
Modular Maze Square Hub

The square hub features a durable, easily cleaned 0.5" (1.3 cm) white polypropylene base with four sets of modular test chamber rails that accommodate any modular maze runway or accessory as well as any modular test chamber accessory. The height of the hub wall is 13.0" (33.0 cm) and the distance between two opposed entrances is 4.5" (11.4 cm). A 0.22" (5.6 mm) clear polycarbonate lid is included. Use for "T" mazes, crosses, and straight runways.

ENV-536
Modular Maze Hexagonal Hub

The hexagonal hub, like the square hub, features a durable, easily cleaned 0.5" (1.3 cm) white polypropylene base. Six sets of modular test chamber rails are provided at a distance of 7.76" (19.7 cm) between two opposed entrances. A 0.22" (5.6 mm) clear polycarbonate lid is included. Use for "Y" mazes, six arm radial arm mazes, and alternative operant test chambers.

ENV-538
Modular Maze Octagonal Hub

The octagonal hub is the most popular intersection. It features a durable, easily cleaned 0.5" (1.3 cm) white polypropylene base and eight sets of modular test chamber rails. The hub may be used without the eight runways as an eight sided operant test chamber, with all eight modular maze runways, or with any combination of runways and accessories. The distance between two opposed entrances is 12.0" (30.5 cm). A 0.22" (5.6 mm) clear polycarbonate lid is included. Shown with auto guillotine door (sold separately).

Goal Box

ENV-546
Rat Start/Goal Box - Clear, 10" (25.4 cm)

ENV-546A
Rat Start/Goal Box - Opaque, 10" (25.4 cm)

These units may be used to extend any runway or placed on any unused position on the hub, with or without a guillotine door. Infrared photobeam sensors may be added to these boxes for automatic animal detection.

Auto Guillotine Door

ENV-540
Modular Maze Auto Guillotine Door

This 28 V DC motor driven door module may be added to any modular maze system. Apply a standard ground signal on the single control line to raise the door and remove the signal to lower the gravity feed door. The door opening is 3.5" x 4.0" (8.9 cm x 10.2 cm). The overall height is 13.125" (33.3 cm) with the door closed and 17.125" (43.5 cm) with the door open. Shown on hub (Not Included).

Runways

ENV-541
Modular Rat Runway, 12" (30.5 cm) ENV-542
Modular Rat Runway, 18" (45.7 cm) ENV-543
Modular Rat Runway, 24" (61.0 cm) ENV-544
Modular Rat Runway, 30" (76.2 cm)

Each runway is constructed of an easily cleaned 0.5" (1.3 cm) white polypropylene floor with clear 0.22" (5.6 mm) polycarbonate walls. The inside cross section of the runway measures 3.56"W x 6.63"H (9.0 cm x 16.8 cm). The removable 0.22" (5.6 mm) clear polycarbonate lid is ventilated, and the outside end wall features standard modular test chamber rails to hold a blank filler panel, the same stimulus, response, and reinforcement accessories used on the operant test chambers, or a nesting/goal box.  The sides of the runway are predrilled for I/R photobeam sensors 2.0" (5.1 cm) and 2.89" (7.3 cm) into the runway, in the center of the runway, and 1.0" (2.5 cm) and 2.0" (5.1 cm) in front of the end wall. All beams are 1.5" (3.8 cm) above the floor. Standard pellet or liquid receptacles may be placed on the end wall.  Custom bait wells may be added to the floor on request as well as custom photobeam sensor positions.
