This is the extra tall modular test chamber with the top modified for drug delivery. This unit is used for rodent studies using drug self administration. The top modification consists of a 2.0" (5.1 cm) diameter hole in the center with a 0.25" (0.64 cm) access slot cut from the hole to the front edge. This allows the user to place an animal in the test chamber with a drug delivery leash or other harness system, attached.
Both end walls are identical with triple aluminum channels to securely hold any modular accessory. The unique top design makes changing modules quick and easy, holding them securely while running experiments. The center of the top is clear polycarbonate and each end features a hinged stainless steel panel with individual spring steel clips to hold modular panels securely in place. This unit includes a door and rear panel of 0.22" (0.6 cm) clear polycarbonate and a base of white polypropylene.

Med Associates is pleased to offer our classic mouse modular operant conditioning chamber. This size was first proposed by Galen Wenger and Peter Dews. An advantage of this size over our other chamber sizes is the dimensions of the chamber have been reduced to limit distractions for the mouse, thus improving shaping and performance.
This modular mouse chamber features three 1.5" (3.81 cm) wide channels on both end walls for easy and convenient placement of any mouse modular accessory, including nose pokes, ultra sensitive standard or retractable levers, stimulus modules, and reinforcement devices.
The cage unit is mounted on a durable, easily cleaned white polypropylene base. The front, back, and top are constructed of 0.22" (0.56 cm) polycarbonate. The front loading door of this unit folds down, leaving an extra high lip to restrain the animal until removed. Order the grid floor (ENV-307A-GF) separately.
Dimensions:
Base: 16.0" L x 11.5" W x 0.50" H
(40.6 cm x 29.2 cm x 1.3 cm)
Interior: 6.25" L x 5.5" W x 5.0" H
(15.9 cm x 14.0 cm x 12.7 cm)
Exterior: 7.0" L x 6.0" W x 7.25" H

The arm assembly includes an aluminum block for mounting on most rat modular test chambers. The back plastic wall on Med Associates self administration 007 and 008 series modular test chambers are pre-drilled for this block, or it can be mounted on a modular panel. The adjustable post extends up to 8.0" (20.3 cm) above and 7.0" (17.8 cm) over the center of the chamber with a pivot-arm and dual action gimbal. An adjustable counterbalance weight maintains sufficient
tension to keep the leash assembly away from the test animal. The PHM-110 gimbal measures 0.75" (1.9 cm) inside diameter for use with the plastic swivel assembly (PHM-115) sold separately. The PHM-110-SAI gimbal measures 0.386" (0.98 cm) inside diameter and is available to fit either the PHM-119B series or Self-Infusion package, or any swivel with the diameter of 0.386" (1.0 cm). |

The Quick Connect System is made up of connections featuring Luer fittings. These fittings provide secure connections between components, and they can be easily attached and detached. The Luered connectors facilitate detaching an animal, and they minimize manipulations so that infections can be avoided. Swivels allow free rotation, preventing catheter twisting and kinking. The tether has built-in tubing that is enclosed in a stainless steel shield to protect the tubing from chewing or clawing. The harness attaches to the vascular (or other) catheter via a stainless steel stub. There are two types of packages: one with the delivery tubing going from the swivel to the pump (PHM-119B-23-D or PHM-119B-21-D), and one without the delivery tubing (PHM-119B-23 or PHM-119B-23). Both packages are available in 21 or 23 gauge. |
