ENV-007CT: Modular Test Chamber with Modified Top

This is our turnkey system for doing intermittent home cage infusions in catheterized rats. Permanently attached tethers have been found to remain trouble free for longer periods of time when given periodic infusions with saline in the home cage. Up to three individually housed rats can be infused from a single syringe pump loaded with three syringes. The MED-125CT package includes six PHM-125A plastic home cages. Three of these are used to hold animals at any point in time, while the additional three cages serve as backups to have on hand for routine cage changes. The top lid of the PHM-125A home cage features a slot and hole allowing the tether system to exit the cage, and the lid is held on the cage using slots and screws. This mechanism allows secure housing of the animal, while facilitating removal with the leash attached to the animal when experiment time comes. The PHM-110 drug delivery arm assembly is a counter balance to support the swivel and leash assembly. We have also included three PHM-119 quick disconnect drug delivery assemblies. The PHM-102 Triple Infusion Pump with Automatic Cycling Timer infuses up to three animals at the same time. A pair of two digit thumb-wheel switches are used to set a cycle time from 1 to 99 minutes and an infusion time from 1 to 99 seconds. A setting of 60 and 10, for example, will produce a ten second infusion at one hour intervals. Other features include a flush push button, test mode, single injection mode, and indicator lights that identify cycle activation and infusion activation.

ENV-008CT: Modular Operant Test Chamber with Drug Infusion Top
An ENV-008 chamber with modified top for drug delivery studies. The top modification consists of a 2.0" (5.1 cm) diameter hole in the center with a 0.25" (6.4 mm) access slot cut from the hole to the front edge. This allows the user to place an animal in the test chamber with a drug delivery leash, or other harness system, attached. Contact Sales for custom top modifications. The ENV-008 chamber itself is a standard height chamber that features a working area of 12.0" L x 9.5" W x 8.25" H (30.5 cm x 24.1cm x 21.0 cm). Both end walls are identical with three sturdy aluminum channels designed to securely hold modular components. The unique top design with a clear polycarbonate center and two hinged stainless steel flap makes changing modules quick and easy, while holding them securely. This unit includes a door and rear panel of 0.22" (5.6 mm) clear polycarbonate, and a base of 0.5" (1.3 cm) thick, white polypropylene 21.0" L x 13.75" D (53.3 cm x 34.9 cm).
ENV-307A/ENV-307CT: Modular Operant Test Chamber with Drug Infusion Top

The size of the ENV-307A mouse operant conditioning chamber was first proposed by Galen Wenger and Peter Dews. An advantage of this size over our other chamber sizes is the smaller area provides less distractions for the mouse thus improving shaping and performance.

This modular mouse chamber features three 1.5" (38.1 mm) wide channels on both end walls for easy and convenient placement of any mouse accessory, including nose pokes, ultra-sensitive standard levers, stimulus modules, and reinforcement devices. The cage unit is mounted on a durable, easily cleaned 0.50" (1.3 cm) white polypropylene base that measures 16.0" x 11.5" (40.6 cm x 29.2 cm). The front, back, and top are constructed of 0.22" (5.6 mm) polycarbonate. The animal work space measures 6.25"L x 5.5"W x 5.0"H (15.9 cm x 14.0 cm x 12.7 cm). The front loading door of this unit folds down, leaving an extra high lip to restrain the animal until removed. The top of this chamber features the "CT" modification for self administration studies.

ENV-307W/ENV-307CT: Modular Operant Test Chamber with Drug Infusion Top
This chamber represents a preferred design for all mouse operant testing. The chamber dimensions are 8.5" L x 7" W x 5" H (21.6 cm x 17.8 cm x 12.7 cm). The durable and easily cleaned base is 0.5" (1.3 cm) thick white polypropylene and measures 21" L x 13.75" D (53.3 cm x 34.9 cm). The front, back, and top are constructed of 0.22" (5.6 mm) polycarbonate. The front loading door of this unit folds down, leaving an extra high lip to restrain the animal until removed. The top has been modified with a 2.0" (5.1 cm) diameter hole in the center with a 0.25" (6.4 mm) access slot cut from the hole to the front edge. This allows the user to place an animal in the test chamber with a drug delivery leash, or other harness system, attached. Contact Sales for custom top modifications.
PHM-110: Arm Assembly with Gimbal Ring
The arm assembly includes an aluminum block for mounting on most test chambers. The back plastic wall on Med Associates' chambers with the "CT" extension in the model number (eg: ENV-008-CT) can be pre-drilled for this block, or it can be mounted on a modular panel. The adjustable post extends up to 8.0" (20.3 cm) above and 7.0" (17.8 cm) over the center of the chamber with a pivot-arm and dual action gimbal. An adjustable counter balance weight maintains sufficient tension to keep the leash assembly away from the test animal. A standard PHM-115F1 gimbal measuring 0.386" (9.8 mm) inside diameter is available to fit the PHM-119-2 swivel. The optional gimbal measures 0.75" (1.9 cm) inside diameter for the PHM-115 swivel assembly (sold separately).
