Photobeam Lickometers

ENV-251L

ENV-251L
Lickometer with Photobeam Controller for Rat

This unique product places the sipper tube behind a “V” plate so that the animal is forced to lick for liquid delivery. An infrared photobeam is placed between the stainless steel plate and the sipper tube to accurately count each beam break by the tongue. This count may be much less than the count provided by the “light pipe” configuration where any part of the snout can break the beam. We do not recommend substituting one for the other in an ongoing study. It is mounted on a 1/4 size rat modular panel.

Panel: 3.0" W x 3.25" H (7.6 cm x 8.3 cm)

Light Pipe Lickometer with Photobeam Controller for Rat

This device for rat was modeled after the traditional “light pipe” configuration. Two glass pipes are positioned in front of the sipper tube to record beam breaks. This unit may be preferred to the contact lickometer in applications using scrambled foot aversive stimulation. It is mounted on a 1/4 size rat modular panel.

Panel: 3.0" W x 3.25" H (7.6 cm x 8.3 cm)
