Pellet Dispensers and Accessories

Med Associates highly recommends Bio-Serv® for pellets and other feeding needs.  www.bio-serv.com

Pellet Dispensers

ENV-203
Pedestal Mount Pellet Dispenser, 45 mg.

ENV-203M
Modular Pellet Dispenser, 45 mg.

Magazine type pellet dispensers as previously offered by the Ralph Gerbrands Co. and others have proved their reliability over the years. This model features a quiet 28 V DC stepper motor, tested repeatedly, and found to deliver a whole pellet virtually 100% of the time. This is significantly better than any other dispenser tested, including the original Gerbrands' model. This large capacity magazine holds over three thousand 45 mg pellets. All new systems will be shipped with ENV-203M Modular Pellet Dispensers unless otherwise requested or in special applications where space does not permit the use of the modular design. When ordering separately, specify ENV-203M or ENV-203 as needed. If audio feedback, like the original Gerbrands' feeder is desired, order the ENV-135M clicker module.

ENV-203-45IR
Pellet Dispenser, Magazine Type, 45 mg. with Built-In Infrared Sentry

The concept of an infrared photo beam to detect and confirm the delivery of a pellet was first developed by Med Associates, Inc, for use with the one gram pellet and candy dispenser, which has been modified to deliver a number of items including dog food and peanuts. These features proved so effective that it is now offered on most of our dispensers. It has been designed for those applications where pellet delivery is absolutely necessary and a non delivery alarm is desirable.  A sensitive infrared photobeam detector has been added to the delivery tube of the ENV-203 dispenser.  If pellet delivery is not confirmed, a built-in microprocessor will repeat the delivery sequence up to five times within 150 milliseconds.  Five consecutive failures set an alarm signal line that can be detected with any 28 V DC input card.

ENV-203-14
Pellet Dispenser, 14 mg

This magazine style dispenser is calibrated for 14mg Bio-Serve® pellets. It features a quiet 28 V DC stepper motor that will not startle the mouse when a reinforcer is delivered.  Based on the same design as the 45 mg dispenser, this dispenser has been tested repeatedly and found to deliver a whole pellet virtually 100% of the time. The capacity of this unit is approximately 3850 pellets.

Pellet Receptacles

ENV-200-R2M
Pellet Receptacle, Trough Type

ENV-200-R1M
Pellet Receptacle, Cup Type

ENV-200-R2M
ENV-200-R1M

These are two of the most popular receptacle cups used with the ENV-203 45 mg dispenser.  The entrance opening to each measures 2.0" x 2.0" (5.1 cm x 5.1 cm).  The traditional cup type may be used for pellets and liquid drops (see ENV-200R3M). It may also be mounted externally (see ENV-200-R1AM).  The trough type is suitable for pellet dispensers only.  A modification of the trough type has also been used for systems requiring photocell detection of the pellet itself.  Receptacle light (ENV-200RL) and Head Entry Detector (ENV-254) may also be added to either model.

ENV-200-R1AM
External Pellet Cup

This component takes the stainless steel cup from the ENV-200-R1M Pellet Receptacle and places it on the outside of the modular panel.  This may be preferable in applications where an animal is fitted with a head block for drug infusion, phyiological recording, microdialysis, etc.

ENV-200R7

ENV-200R7
Pellet Receptacle, 75-300 mg.

This unit is similar to the ENV-200-R2M trough dispenser with a modified delivery system designed to handle the larger pellets.

ENV-210M
Modular Guillotine Door

This 28 V DC controlled motorized door may be placed in front of a standard receptacle cup to limit access to the reinforcer.  The door and receptacle are sold separately.  The standard door is aluminum; however, a clear acrylic plastic door may also be specified by ordering ENV-210M-CLEAR.

ENV-200-FC
Ad Lib Feeding Food Cup

This receptacle provides a reserve of food for ad lib feeding. It may be used with the ENV-210M door to limit access or an ENV-254 head entry detector to monitor time at the food cup. For more sophisticated data collection, consider a "take and replace" pellet delivery system or one of the food intake monitors (ENV-200FCW or ENV-200FCW-D).
