Safety Timer

Although unlikely, in the event of a computer crash, there is always the possibility of an output being left turned on. To prevent an animal from receiving continuous aversive stimulation under such an event, in-line timers may be added to the aversive stimulation line to automatically shut the aversive stimulator off. Two such timers are listed below.  These timers may also be used with drug infusion pumps to prevent a possible overdose.

PHM-100STV
Adjustable Safety Shutoff Timer

This timer features a time range from 0 - 35 seconds.  The scale accuracy of this unit is 10% full scale with a repeatability of 1%.  Once a value is calibrated it can be locked in with a mechanical lock on the adjustable potentiometer.

SG-592
Digital Timer

The SG-592 is a microprocessor based digital timer capable of timing intervals between 0.1 seconds and 99.9 seconds in 1/10-second increments. Timing duration is user selectable via front panel three-digit push buttons. The timing cycle can be initiated by using either the START button on the front of the unit, or by sending the timer an operate signal from MED-PC. The output of the timer is a standard 28 Volt output. Typical applications for the SG-592 include the timed control (on duration) of a stimulus light, drug infusion pump, or aversive stimulator.
