2006 Highlights

During the summer of 2006, Med Associates launced the first installment of the Short Courses in Neuroscience series. Med Associates' Short Courses are 2-day programs consisting of lecture, theory, and practical labs taught by leading academic researchers. Below are some highlights of the series:

President and Founder of Med Associates, Karl Zurn, demonstrates some Med Associates products and answers questions from students about Med Associates products.   Dr. Steven I. Dworkin, Ph.D, ( Professor, Department of Psychology, University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Duke University Medical Center) goes into details about wiring the Med Associates interface system to operant conditioning chambers. Dr. Dworkin also discussed Self-Administration.

Med Associates Software Programmer, Gary Bamberger, address students' questions on MED State Notation programs. Later on, he was able to assist students directly as they worked in the Med-PC labs.   Students were invited for a cruise on Lake Champlain departing from Burlington marina after the classes were done to meet the faculty, researchers and employees of Med Associates.

Dr. Edward G. Meloni, PhD (Instructor in Psychiatry, Behavioral Genetics Laboratory and Medicinal Discovery and Development McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School) discusses classical fear conditioning as it relates to the acoustic startle reflex.   Vice President of Research and Development at Med Associates, Dr. Gerry Herrera, PhD., demonstrates exciting new infrared video research technology developed at Med Associates.

Dr. Stephan G. Anagnostaras, PhD (Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, University of California, San Diego) explains concepts about the freeze response and classical fear conditioning as a tool for assessing learning and memory.   Students were invited for a barbeque on the shores of Lake Champlain in beautiful St. Albans Bay after the classes were done to meet the faculty, researchers and employees of Med Associates.
